Mel Gibson's divorce will finally be final some time later on Friday. He and his wife of 28 years separated back in 2006 after his infamous drunk driving arrest in Malibu. The controversial actor will officially be a free man. Ladies? Of course by now, as a result of his erratic and often nasty behavior, probably no one will want him!
According to a report from TMZ, Mel and Robyn Gibson were married long before his wealth was established, so there was no prenuptial agreement. His net worth is said to be around $900 million.
Mel made even bigger headlines for the separation from his girlfriend Oskana Grigorieva about a year ago than for his separation from his wife. The custody battle over his and Grigorieva's daughter Lucia was vile and bitter, with Gibson pulling all kinds of nasty antics.
Despite his bad behavior, soon-to-be ex-wife Robyn actually came to Mel Gibson's defense during his court battle with Grigorieva. She wrote a letter to the judge saying that Mel had never hit anyone in her household in all the years they were together.
Do you suppose Gibson is now kicking himself in the butt for having wrecked his marriage of 28 years? It seems that he has wound up with no woman, plenty of money and a pretty crass reputation. And doesn't it seem a bit odd that no films have been announced in recent months (aside from that beaver one with Jodie Foster) in which Gibson is starring?
Is Mel Gibson all washed up? Will he be a has been by the time his divorce is finalized later on Friday? Or will that divorce perhaps signify the beginning of a better life for the clearly troubled actor?
