Kate Middleton has sent the sales of dresses she wears for public engagements soaring through the roof. One French company is probably now hoping that she has the same effect on their boots.
She was seen wearing Le Chameau boots last week at Prince William's football match. Apparently, the boots are not only a favorite of the Duchess of Cambridge but also of Prince Harry as well. He wore the exact same boots to watch his brother play. Le Chameau's Chasseur shoe is a rubber boot that is handcrafted in France and lined with leather. The price of the Chasseur, as high as $465, reflects its quality craftsmanship and prestige.
The French company is not shy about capitalizing on the royal family. The homepage of the company's U.S. website prominently features a photo of Kate Middleton and Prince William, under the headline "Craftsmanship Sought by Royals" wearing Le Chameau boots while they were out hunting. Another headline touts that they have "New Styles for Fashion Divas," and is placed above a photo of the duchess, accompanies by sister Pippa Middleton, walking around Llanddwyn Island with her boots.
It's not clear whether the French company has received permission from the royal family to use their fame to increase sales. Most likely, Le Chameau supplies the duchess and the rest of the royal family with a ready supply of boots complimentary in exchange for publicity. Luckily, fans of the duchess need not wait too long to get their own pair of royal wellies. Retailers such as Amazon and J.Jill stock Le Chameau boots for online purchase. However, considering Kate Middleton's ability to make anything that she wears sell out, their inventories may not last for long.
