Teen Mom Amber Portwood spent the holidays behind bars and now it's being reported she is on suicide watch. The 21-year-old attempted suicide once before, and that's when she wound up in rehab. Hopefully the staff at the jail can keep the young mother safe.
According to Hollywood Life, a source says the Teen Mom star is extremely depressed. She is all alone, as she has managed to alienate her friends and family members. And she isn't being given any meds for anxiety or depression while incarcerated.
It seems that other inmates at the jail aren't being kind to Amber--which is actually typical jailhouse behavior. Amber is a celebrity which instantly means the other women incarcerated there are going to lash out at her either out of jealousy or disdain.
"Amber has already been moved twice from two other cell blocks because all the inmates were threatening her and she was scared she'd get beat up," the source says.
The situation with Amber Portwood's baby daddy Gary Shirley isn't helping her depression either. She called Gary and their daughter Leah on Christmas Day, only to learn that Gary's new girlfriend was spending Christmas with the two of them. That caused Amber's anger to flare (she has long had anger management issues) and she swore at Gary--saying it was his fault she was in jail.
Gary ultimately hung up on Amber. He has done his best to give her multiple chances, but has very clearly moved on. Amber Portwood needs to want to change and to accept the help she will hopefully be given again, once she gets out of jail.
In the meantime it is everyone's hope that Amber is able to stay safe in jail--from herself and from the other inmates who are harassing her. The suicide watch may prove helpful on both accounts.
