Kate Middleton cemented her role as a style icon when she walked down the Westminster Abbey aisle, wearing a classically gorgeous Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown, to wed Prince William and become the Duchess of Cambridge. After her sister Pippa Middleton's beautiful and buzzed-about wedding entrance, she too has become quite the fashion plate. An inspiration to design houses and stylista followers everywhere, Kate (and Pippa!) continue to set trends and draw fans to shop at many of their accessible go-to retailers.
But does the Duchess have a bit of sartorial competition in another royal, namely Princess Beatrice?! Yes, she of the controversial dusty pink, and rather mumsy, Valentino royal wedding outfit that she paired with an even more highly debated Philip Treacy fascinator, which was reminiscent of everything from an octopus to antlers to a big unfortunate bow. Of course, there have been other major style faux pas in her closet, too, besides this one!
Nevertheless just as fashion evolves, so do the people who wear it. Beatrice looks to be one who has perhaps picked up on the more sophisticated and classic trend that Kate Middleton has so brilliantly championed. She even gave Prince William's wife a run for her money when she recently stepped out in a simple all-black number. As Daily Mail says, Beatrice surprisingly went for a "less is more" approach. And it definitely served her well.
The strawberry blonde Beatrice, 23, was the picture of chic during her night out to the Arts Club in London with boyfriend Dave Clark. No embarrassing hats or strange ensembles this time! Instead, she opted for a feminine yet trendsetting coat that had a slight ruffle detail and a subdued bow, which gave it just the right amount of pretty edge. The princess paired the coat with black tights, suede ankle boots (they could have been a bit more interesting, though!) and a killer black patent leather bag that was very much oversized, but very much a statement-maker.
Princess Beatrice's outfit was so well done, one could have easily imagined Kate Middleton herself donning the same!
