Poor old Kate Middleton; if being married to the heir to the throne and jetting around the world on a permanent vacation wasn't enough to contend with, she now has to suffer the indignity of being reduced to tears by brash Americans.
At the recent royal première of Steven Spielberg's First World War epic War Horse at Leicester Square, the immaculately attired and fresh-faced Duchess of Cambridge had a tearful experience watching the legendary director's new film.

Why? Well it wasn't the usual dismal and dreary British weather that was to blame. No! Apparently Prince William's wife was so upset by the film she couldn't hold back the tears.
War Horse, which is pretty much about one boy's love for his horse with a heady mix of war thrown in for good measure, is a surefire bet to do well at the box office.
The royals and upper classes in particular seem to adhere to the principle that mankind is ennobled by its love for the horse. The French, however, seem to differ and prefer just to eat them instead.
Spielberg told BBC Breakfast, "I was sitting next to her (Kate Middleton) and all I know is at one point my wife, who was sitting to my right, right in front of my face she passed a Kleenex ... I saw the Kleenex go across my face, arrive and stop but I didn't want to intrude on her experience watching War Horse so I never glanced over."
Obviously, the E.T. director who gets a right "buzz" from royal premieres and was a "soaking wet wreck" after watching the War Horse play on which his film is based, doesn't seem to even consider the Kleenex could have been for something else. Perhaps Prince William had spilt his super-size carton of sugary soft drink all over Kate's designer dress, or perhaps the Duchess was riddled with cold and just needed to discretely blow her royal hooter.
At the end of the day, who knows exactly what horseplay was afoot in that darkened auditorium?
