Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev Kiss on 'TVD' Causes Death Threats!

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may be dating in real life, but their kiss on the hit TV show The Vampire Diaries has caused a lot of backlash—including death threats!

Apparently, fans are so involved in the plot of the show that the kiss between Damon (Ian) and Elena (Nina) was like a stab in the back because Elena is the ex of Damon's brother, Stefan.

The producers were a little shocked by the reaction but that hasn't made them regret creating the scene.

"That night ... I texted [Julie Plec] and was like, 'Did you get some death threats on your Twitter?' And she goes, 'I got some death threats and some other unseemly things.' I go, 'Yeah, I got a couple of 'f*gs' and a couple of death threats.' We were listing all the bad things they were saying," producer Kevin Williamson said. "It's one of those things where I felt like we knew it was going to anger the Stefan and Elena fans, but we also... I felt that we had earned it."

Fans can't exactly say that they weren't glad to see Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev kiss—after all the real life couple doesn't give many opportunities for PDA outside of the set. But, it does make sense why they'd be mad about the scene...though not mad enough to send death threats. It is only a TV show!

Brooke Davis Jan 14, 2012, 4:29pm UTC i was NOT angry at all i was so glad that they kissed it was along wait for that kiss been waiting for two whole seasons for that to happen i`m a DELENA shipper i love delena but i do enjoy ripper!stefan and elena though but not enough to actually hope for them to be together i want amon and elena to be together because they belong together i`ve been shipping them since 1x02 since day one i`ve shipped them i never did ship stelena i found them boring i`m not bashing that ship i`m just saying! DON'T listen to those death threats i mean it is only a show but who am i to talk i am so in love with this show that i get over-dramatic when something non-delena goes down like when stelena happens i go all "NOOOO!" like a crazy person my frien thought i lost my mind a few times when i was screaming like a crazy person over no delena! Keeping her with Stefan for two seasons (actually they were only together for 8 months in the supernatural timeline of Mystic Falls) was growing boring and stale. The writers have to keep the story fresh. It is about time they started writing the story to bring Damon and Elena closer together. Liv Rivera Jan 15, 2012, 1:31am UTC Hell no, I'm not upset about the Delena kiss! I'm an extremely recent fan of the series and I completely love Damon. But really, Stelena shippers need to chill the hell out because in all honestly, it's just a TV show. Even though I ship Delena super-hardcore, it's obvious that Stelena is going to be endgame. You don't see most Delena shippers getting butt-hurt over it, and yet Delena is still getting bashed by Stelena shippers. We all just want Damon to be happy :D reply to this comment Chime in! I do find Stefan to be a little boring compared to Damon but that is also from reading the books. Tv Stefan is better then the book Stefan. If you want that, watch "Secret Circle" (only half joking). As for the death threats, those people are nuts. Its a TV SHOW. Cannibal Kitty Jan 19, 2012, 7:23am UTC If anyone's ever read the books, people would understand why the producers/writers are going with this kind of development in the story line. Granted, the show isn't following the books scene by scene (which I find refreshing, I like what they're doing with the Klaus story), but Elena in the books was always a much more fickle/shallow person.
