"Have it your way" takes on a whole new meaning with Burger King and its new home delivery option. Can you imagine getting burgers delivered just like pizza?
The chain is obviously desperately trying to climb its way back to number two after Wendy's took that spot with its recently redesigned burgers called Dave's Hot 'N Juicy. Of course, McDonald's takes the top burger chain spot without worry. Still, if Burger King can't see a rise in sales from the home delivery, then it could mean problems.
Currently, the delivery option is only available at four Washington D.C. area restaurants, but the chain is looking to expand the service. The biggest question is, will the food still taste good after traveling to your house from the store? Perhaps. Of course, burgers and fries really do not reheat well.
The good news is that according to Jonathan Fitzpatrick of Burger King, the company has created "proprietary thermal packaging technology, which ensures the Whopper is delivered hot and fresh, and the french fries are delivered hot and crispy." If this packaging really works, then that is amazing. Perhaps the burger joint will have another money-making venture in selling these bags to other fast food chains in the future if this whole delivery service for fast food takes off like pizza delivery has.
While the service is still only available in a limited area, it is certainly something to think about. If it were available near you, would you pay a $2 fee to have your Whopper delivered?
