ABC has confirmed that former Bachelor contestant Emily Maynard will be the new season's Bachelorette, giving the 26-year-old single mother a chance to see what it is like on the other side of the rose ceremonies!
If Maynard's name sounds overly familiar to you, it may be because she wasn't just your average contestant, eliminated early in the competition. Rather, Maynard took home the ring when Brad Womack proposed to her over Chantal O'Brien in the finale, and then garnered even more publicity when they—big surprise!—called it off months later.
Now, she'll get yet another shot at love (and ratings) when she takes the screen for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, sifting through 25 eligible bachelors in the hopes of finding her Prince Charming. Brad Womack need not apply.
Emily Maynard has already had two engagements: the obvious to Womack, and a previous to Nascar drive Ricky Hendrick that ended in his tragic and untimely death, days before she found out she was carrying their daughter, named Ricki in his honor. With so much heartbreak in her relatively short life, can Emily Maynard find love and finally get her happily ever after? We'll see in just a few short months, when The Bachelorette premieres on ABC.
What do you think of Emily Maynard as the new bachelorette? Are you sick of seeing recycled candidates, or do you think it's only fair she get another chance?
