When celebrity hairstylists run out of fresh hair ideas, they have to revert back to a no-fail classic: the ponytail. And at the SAG Awards 2012, US Magazine reports that several starlets were sporting inventive variations of the quintessential go-to style. Here is a sampling of how the stars wore their hair.
Modern Family's Sofia Vegara took a page from the 1960s with a bouffant at the crown, but she kept it more modern by framing her face with long bangs brushed to the sides. This hairstyle was very glamorous and very Brigitte Bardot.
Teen star Shailene Woodley kept her look simple with a basic low ponytail and a side part. She looked chic in a very casual way. This hairstyle is surprisingly a little too casual for an awards ceremony but it's perfect for weekends.
Jayma Mays, from Fox hit series Glee, hit a high note with her ponytail at the SAG Awards. Like Shailene, she kept her hairstyle on the casual side as her hair was combed back and held up in a high ponytail. She looked youthful but super chic.
Diane Lane, who will star in next year's Man of Steel, wore an elegant ponytail with cascading waves in the back (a look that was a little bohemian and a little classic), while The Office star Ellie Kemper dressed to impress with a sleek side part and low ponytail.
Like every award show, this year's SAG Awards 2012 had its share of highs and lows, but when it came to dressing to the nines, everyone stepped up to the plate. The only question that remains is: Will this current ponytail trend last throughout the awards season?
