It's been just shy of two months since Lauren Scruggs' accident where a collision with a plane propellor left her brutally injured and with her hand and eye severed, but she's made huge strides in her recovery. This week, she received her prosthetic eye, a major step in completing her rehabilitation!
This milestone step, which was an "all-day process" this past Saturday, involving a fitting, craftsmanship by the maker, and placement, turned out "beautiful", according to her mother, Cheryl Scruggs.
The 23-year-old model and fashion blogger (she runs the site LOLO) has not had what anyone would call an easy go of things since the accident, undergoing several surgeries and remaining in critical condition in the hospital initially. Thankfully, and with the help of an amazing medical team and the love and support of family, friends, and fans, Lauren Scruggs recovery has been quick considering the extent of her injuries.
According to her mother, "Lo's physical pain has subsided a great deal. It is now the emotional pain that is the tough one."
Though she has passed through many hurdles thus far, there is still a rocky road ahead for Lauren Scruggs, who lost a hand in the accident as well. She is currently exploring a prosthetic hand as well.
Best wishes that 2012 brings much healing and happiness to Scruggs, who has been through and lost so much in just two short months!
