Hopefully Daniel Radcliffe doesn't start frittering his fortune on gambling—he recently made a rather large bet on the Super Bowl!
But don't start worrying too much; the beloved actor made a $5,000 bet that will benefit the Trevor Project, a charity that provides suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth.
Dan-Rad might hail from England, where football is something entirely different from what it is in the U.S., but he quickly became a fan of the New York Giants after living in NYC while he worked on Broadway. So he decided to make his visit to Ellen DeGeneres' show interesting by making a little wager with her: If the Giants lose, Daniel Radcliffe will donate $5,000 to the Trevor Project, while Ellen will have to cough up the cash if they beat the Patriots.
So since a Harry Potter star is now betting on the Super Bowl, perhaps rappers won't see it as such a hardcore thing to do; 50 Cent and Birdman have both talked up how they want to make big bets on the big game. It's just a shame they haven't said anything about donating some of their winnings to charity, but since Fiddy is also betting on the Giants, hopefully he'll get inspired by Daniel's good deed (of course, it would only matter if his $1 million bet ended up paying off).
It's great that Daniel Radcliffe and Ellen DeGeneres set the bet up the way that they did. Either way, the Trevor Project will benefit from it, and it wouldn't be surprising if the winner decided to pay up, too. Ellen and Daniel both seem like very giving people.
But who do you think will win? Will Daniel get to celebrate the Giants pulling off the upset, or will Ellen get a chance to do a victory dance when the favored Patriots win? Sound off in the comments, and check out Daniel making his wager on Ellen below.
