The Whitney Houston funeral will take place in Newark, New Jersey. The late singer's family and hometown are awaiting the return of her body and preparing for the outpouring of grief that will go with the services. Whitney Houston's body will be flown from Los Angeles as early as this evening.
Houston was born in Newark and raised in East Orange, N.J. She began singing in a fashion not unusual to many families. Lead by her mother Cissy Houston, Whitney started as a singer in the choir at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark. Houston lived for a few decades in New Jersey with her ex-husband Bobby Brown, in Mendham Township, N.J.
With heavy hearts, member of the community are bracing themselves to continue remembering the beautiful voice that Whitney Houston blessed her fans with. NBC is reporting that Whigham Funeral Home is handling the funeral, however with respect for the family, the woman answering the phone at the funeral home will not confirm the abovementioned details.
The funeral is expected to be this week, possibly Friday. Details for fans and local memorial services have not been announced yet but with rich history in New Jersey, vigils and memorials are to be expected for a while. Rest in peace, Whitney.
