Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of 19 Kids & Counting fame want to see a "man of God" leading the country. The Duggar family has been actively campaigning for Republican candidate Rick Santorum.
According to a report from the Hollywood Gossip, both Jim Bob and Michelle are very outspoken in why they are backing this candidate. In addition to their beliefs in him as a presidential candidate, the two families have some similarities, too. They both are strong believers in the right to life, and each family has a child with significant medical needs.
"We want a man that honors God to lead our nation," Michelle says.
The TLC reality show family is deeply religious, and they endorsed Santorum from the beginning. It would really be interesting to learn if any other presidential primary candidate has ever been backed by the subjects of a reality show.
"We have been praying to the Lord that if you want the heart of the voters to turn to Rick Santorum, then please do so. We prayed that more people would take a closer look at him, and more people are getting behind him," Michelle Duggar says.
"He has a backbone of steel and a heart of gold," Jim Bob says. "He's the family values candidate with a proven record. He honors life and stands for what is right."
Do you think the endorsement of the Duggar family will benefit Rick Santorum? Do the 19 Kids & Counting parents have that much pull among conservatives? Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar won't be thrown off track if you say no. They are determined to put their candidate in office.
"He's on a shoestring budget," Jim Bob Duggar says of Rick Santorum, "but we hope he will go from a pickup truck to Air Force One."
Do you think that could happen?
