It looks like High School Musical cutie Ashley Tisdale has landed herself a juicy role in a new CBS comedy pilot this fall. She will play Petra, a beautiful and sarcastic assistant to a vintage clothing designer struggling to find her niche in New York. Deadline reported the exciting news on Tuesday. This new venture is an untitled Louis CK/Spike Feresten multi-camera pilot and is a great start to a new career in primetime TV for this blond beauty.
The 26-year-old actress has enjoyed much success in her career so far. With her High School Musical days behind her, she seems to be getting her feet wet in more mature roles. Now with landing this new lead, she is well on her way to becoming a weekly household name. Since her Disney days, she has also had a starring role in the CW's Hellcats in which she played a cheerleader. The show was canceled last year supposedly due to low ratings. Ashley tweeted her excitement last night, "So excited!! Check this out!"
This seems like a good fit for Ashley Tisdale, especially with her previous role as Sharpay Evans in both High School Musical and Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure on the Disney Channel. Sharpay was both dramatic and also kind of funny. She also is one of the voices on Disney Channel's Phineas and Ferb. This new comedy will be a great career boost for her. She is a down-to-earth kind of girl with a great sense of fashion. It's no wonder she got picked for the pilot. This is also a good move for CBS as she will no doubt bring many fans with her for some good ratings. Good luck to Ms. Tisdale!
