Whitney Houston has been dead for almost two weeks, but an official cause of death has yet to be determined. While the coroner is waiting for the toxicology report to come back from the lab, the media is having their own frenzy. The latest development is significant, as the National Enquirer has released a photo of Whitney dead in her casket at her private viewing last Friday night.![]()
The photo is stirring up controversy with several news outlets—and fans—voicing their opinions about the Enquirer's decision to publish the picture—and on the front page, no less. It seems as though most people feel the same way: The picture should not have been published, and it should have been the family's decision whether or not to share that last memory of their beloved Whitney with the world.
"It's a tasteless picture of the superstar's lifeless body wearing a purple dress," Rumor Fix writes in an article, adding that they are "appalled." The Daily Mail calls the photo "chilling," and quotes several Twitter users who didn't think the photo was appropriate. Fox News called the Enquirer's decision "extraordinary" but at the same time added that the photo release was not surprising.
Aside from the fact that Whitney and her family have been completely disrespected, Whitney does look beautiful even in death. While her dead body was not meant to be seen by the eyes of the public, there is something comforting knowing that she was laid to rest looking so stunning, just as her millions of fans will remember her.
What do you think of the Enquirer's decision to release the photo of Whitney Houston in her casket?
