Revenge is once again on a brief break, this time until April, but fortunately, there are some teasers out about what to expect when it picks up again, including what's coming up for Charlotte as she continues to pop pills.
Season 1 Spoilers
According to Entertainment Weekly, Christa B. Allen has revealed, "How Charlotte goes about getting her drugs [will] become integral to the story. They're being obtained illegally. She gets them from one source and runs out and has to find a new source." It started with Charlotte taking Jack's Oxycodone from the medicine cabinet after she left home to stay with Declan upon finding out that David Clarke, not Conrad, was her biological father. But those could only last so long, and unfortunately, that's not the case for the drug habit. That's going to be an ongoing problem of Charlotte's. Allen went on to say, "It's private school with a bunch of rich young Hamptonites, and you know, I think bribery and deceit and less-than-kosher means will be how she goes about getting more pills—as addicts do."
Unsurprisingly, Victoria and Conrad aren't going to realize just how Charlotte's handling everything for a while, and according to Allen, "That's the sick thing about it. From my perspective, she's never really had the attention from her parents. Daniel has always been the golden child for reasons that Victoria has only ever fully known. But Char has always sort of been the black sheep, and this is her first major attempt at crying out and saying [she] needs love, too. I think that just might be the deeper motivations — or one of them." That's certainly true and something you saw from the beginning. It's also not surprising that this could be her way of trying to get that attention she doesn't get from her parents, and considering that now Daniel's in jail and facing murder charges, it doesn't look like that's going to change. Because of that also, it's not like Victoria and Conrad are going to be focusing on their child not in trouble with the law, and it's very possible that things get much worse for Charlotte as her secret remains just that—a secret—from her parents.
So far Declan knows because he caught her taking the pills in the bathroom and found them in her bag, and Emily knows because she saw her at the party, but will one of them speak up about it before it's too late? Is there more tragedy coming to the Hamptons with this storyline? Will someone help Charlotte before it's too late? Will Emily reveal to Charlotte who she really is and perhaps let her in on the plan at some point? Right now, Charlotte's pretty angry with Victoria and Conrad, but will that stick?
