Kate Gosselin Loves Warm Weather

So Kate once again professes her love for warm weather. Reminds me of when Kate and Jon had their first vacation without the kids and they went to Florida to celebrate Jon's 30th birthday. Kate loved the warm weather so much that she didn't use sunscreen gave herself a nasty case of sun poisoning, got sick and ruined the vacation. Must have been loads of laughs for Jon.
Oh I forget. It's always been about Kate and Jon could do nothing right. Some things never change, do they?

Why does anyone think your just writing dribble in order to keep Kate in the spotlight? Heavens to Betsy, I think your so informative. Could you share with us tomorrow if the weather gets a little chilly for Kate? And please tell us if the kids like toast with their poached eggs? I'm dying to know.

Narrow minded or what! The response did relate to the article...warm weather, plus to the queen herself. After all, she always wants to discuss the past, when it's to her advantage, and will denigrate Jon as much as possible. Who are you to judge what is, or is not, relevant? You Report anything minuscule relating to this person...now you claim to be an authority on relevance? You can't have it both ways...and remember, we still exist within a democracy or a version thereof. Bummer...had to actually read your article this time...generally, the responses are the only RELEVANCIES, thought I should scan the detritus to answer...

I just want to know how the writer knows Kate 'tweeted with a smile'? Did Kate actually use an emoticon-and if so, why not include it in the quote?-or was the writer sitting there with Kate when she tweeted? Oooooh, did Kate call/email/text/tweet her to say she was smiling? Because anything else would be supposition, and there's no room in real journalism for supposition.

Re: censorship. This website was estabilished as a place where we could "Gather" and discuss the articles. If one is going to write publicly, one has to learn to live with the criticism as a matter of course. The laurels may be few and far between. If the audience is overwhelmingly unreceptive to a series of articles it may be time to choose a new subject. This isn't 9th grade English-the teacher isn't assigning topics. It's quite apparent that the majority of readers don't care for the topic you (Effie) have chosen. I'm sorry your passion isn't shared by all, or even a few. Put on your big girl panties and ask yourself WWQE2D? (What Would Queen Elizabeth the 2nd Do?)
Also? Fewer exclamation points. They'll make a bigger impact.

No one is criticizing Effie as a person - just critiquing her writing. What's wrong with doing that? There are other article writers here who write something worth reading and getting worked up over, like Chelsea Hoffman. At least her stuff is not the same old Kate dribble every day. These "articles" are nothing more than re-posts of Kate's blog and tweets. There is nothing original in them except Effie's feelings.

forgot to add - Effie has written other stuff that to me has been worth reading. Just not on Kate, that is.

related to article: hmmmm....it's been fairly warm on the east coast these past four months. How does one tweet with a smile? A smiley face icon, perhaps? she bestowed a smile on her three followers? How royally noble of her!

I admit it. I clicked the link to the tweet and there was in fact a smiley emoticon.
Actually some people have been a little mean-spirited towards Effie in their comments. She's an enthusiastic writer (i.e. the exclamation marks!) and I think she really truly cares about the subject matter.
Gosselin gossip is my guilty pleasure. There's not a lot of it out there these days, and I refuse to actually follow her on Twitter. I loved the early seasons of the show but Kate quickly became very unlikeable IMO. Her delusions of grandeur crack me up. And sometimes I choose to make fun of her.

Well, thank you. I think. I don't write these posts for the 9 people who continuously choose to tell me what a terrible writer I am. I write it for the thousands of others who want to read about what KG is doing who don't have Twitter or can't look it up any other way.

There are millions of people in this world and we all think and feel differently. That's what makes the world go 'round. We can't all be the same. If people don't like these posts, they shouldn't read them. I'm going to write about Kate (even if it's "dribble") every single day. No mean-spirited comments are going to detract me from writing about someone I like.

How do you know that thousands want to and I repeat, the word dribble that you post about Kate on a daily basis.? If these thousands are so in love with Kate, why not get twitter, it's free and hear it from the horses mouth? Your saying they prefer to read your bias slant? I'm not saying your a bad writer but the subject matter is crap. If as time passes and you go for a real writing job will you submit the best of Effie's tales on the eating habits, sleeping habits and the other traits of Kate. Hope you don't feel they will jump to hire you.based on this. Maybe this unholy nine represent the tru feelings of kate. Don't see the sheeple jumping to her defense, just you. If thousands want to hear all about her, why do studios treat her like Typhoid Mary of the past century. It's you conducting the love fest for her.

I'm sorry you feel that you are being attacked. But, the simple truth is . All your doing is re-writing Kate's tweets. Nothing new.

I personally would like to say sorry if I offended you but I think Jennifer is right. Constructive criticism never hurt anyone and I think her post would be helpful. I have received constructive criticism many times in my life and it only has benefited me in the long run. Sorry Effie if I was harsh and judgmental. You seem like a nice person.....good luck.

I won't deny Effie her POV. Likewise, I have my own POV and I would hope that while some might disagree with it, that I retain the same rights as Effie to express it - especially on this forum.
Kate appears to be trying to re-invent herself for her sheeple. I am grateful to Effie for bringing subjects like these to the forefront (so to speak) because it allows me to trip down memory lane and serve as a reminder that Kate's past behavior and actions are not rumors, not lies, not born of "hatred" and in fact, were documented for all the world to see.
Kate put herself out there and therefore opened herself up to criticism. If Kate and bloggers like Effie continue to put stuff like this out to the public, then they should be prepared for opposing viewpoints. Heck, they might even learn something.

I agree Christine! It's like a TV show. Instead of watching and then complaining, simply snap off the tube before you waste your time on either task.

As for Effie, I enjoy her commentary and her wide choice of subjects. She really gets to know each and every celeb she writes about so we get a good, cumulative look at any particular subject she decides to talk about and to examine in depth over time. It's the big picture and it's my guilty pleasure to keep up with her prolific offerings.

Well, I commented earlier.
I was pointing out that Effie knows that thousands of people read her stuff because she gets thousands of views each day on these articles. While they may not be something everyone wants to know about, there are plenty of people who enjoy keeping up with KG. I'm one of them.

I have read some of your other articles and they really differ from the Kate stuff. I read this mostly for others comments and sometimes it's just too hard to hold back and toss a few in, even in response to some of them. Honestly, I don't see KG as a role model for anyone. It doesn't bother you that her children are not being fed enough? I guess I worry that you are so focused on Kate and creating a picture that is unreal for your readers. Her children are not doing good and are not one hundred percent happy. Some have been expelled from their schools, others act out and act up - and I'm not talking about the normal acting out children do. From what I've read and seen by those who actually know the family it goes beyond. Fair enough that you like Kate - but don't you worry a bit about those kids? It's like watching an episode of Fantasy Island. Yes, she's alone - because she pushed away the few friends and family she had. How is that benefiting her children? They are kept isolated from so much - and sure, it's good that they don't read all the hate expressed at their mother - but they are growing up and at some point will see much of it whether or not Kate likes it. When it comes to children of "celebrities" (and I do use that word loosely regarding Kate) - like Brad and Angelina's kids - those kids seem totally happy, relaxed - whereas the G kids don't. If you are going to write about them, tell us something we don't know. I always wonder if the six and the twins have friends they play with beyond each other. Kids that age usually enjoy pajama parties and sleepovers. The twins are turning in to teens. I don't want to know about their first bras - how embarrassing for them! What do they like in school? What don't they like?
Again, some of the other stuff you've written is fine. And I have read other stuff. But the articles or re-tweets or re-posts about Kate just seem a little too unreal.

By the way - I also earn a living from writing articles. Only not about celebrities. Just about boring stuff like mobile marketing and green wedding gowns and collectible glass.

And I will add - I've never hidden behind a funny user name - I use my name, and my profile photo. If I have something to say I won't hide behind a faux icon.

I think that Kate's kids have had advantages as well as pitfalls simply by taking part in their reality shows as well as by being raised by a person who likes to be in the spotlight.

For instance, the children are fortunate enough before of the fame to travel at a young age, and, at least as far as I am concerned, that's one of the greatest way to educate a kid in the ways of the world.

That said, Effie has written about each one of these adventures, and whenever she does I think about how all of this will make each aware of so much more, especially so once they are older and look back.

No, I don't think it horrible to be Kate Gosselin's kids. And that's simply looking at the situation at face value.

@Christine: No, I don't. Does anyone here? I've only heard of one person who does. That's who I was referring to - she's not on Gather, by the way. And most of my comments are usually related to what I see in photos or what is actually said by Kate herself.
@Jane: yes, her kids have had advantages. I guess I don't see them enjoying the same ones now. Young kids often don't understand why something good has to end. Yet all we hear about is how Kate is going off on another adventure by herself - sans kids. I don't know the kids. I don't know what they are thinking - I, like everyone else, can only project how I would feel in those cases. And ask my step-grandkids how they would feel. I took my kids everywhere with me when they were young. I know that not everyone does.
And by the way, I often do read these articles and have stopped commenting for the most part - I threw in these comments today. As I previously said, Effie has written some fine things regarding other topics. I've enjoyed some of her other articles.

I run also ... thanks to Kate coincidentally. I was never a runner but she inspired me to get out there.

I was inspired by a 55 year old breast cancer survivor. She said if she beat breast cancer, she was going to run a marathon. She did both. :-) I was 43 and 60 pounds overweight when I started. Now I am 45 and 20 pounds overweight. I am still working up to a half marathon (and have doubts that Kate actually ran a marathon when her longest run was ten miles previously) but I plan to do a half in October and a full next year.

My inspiration is my guru....Kate not so much. I was physically, verbally and emotionally abused by my mother. Lots of scars and a lifetime of trying to heal. I surround myself with my animals and my loving children. I am also a breast cancer survivor. I know I am not perfect (still a work in progress) but I'm okay and life is good.

My inspiration is my aunt who passed away 2 years ago in her sleep at age 56. She just wasn't a runner. I don't know any runners. But I have been hit hard with great loss and I'm only in my 20's. I look up to a lot of people who are close to me. I wouldn't say I "look up" to KG. I don't even really know her.

I also apologize for being sometimes harsh. It just makes me wonder why what ever Kate says you print as the gospel, as if Moses was bringing down the tablet from the mountain. I don't think you would refute the thought that Kate can say anything to gather attention and you will post it as it came from the old testament. I think writing 101 requires the author to have their facts and Kate can sometimes make that impossible. Anyway, keep banging it out.

I appreciate that. And I do admit that sometimes what I write about KG isn't jaw dropping, but I like to hear about her and her kids. I don't write about EVERYTHING she tweets. I think she tweets a lot. I pick one thing that I personally find interesting (even if that's her kids liking poached eggs) and I write about it. That's it. She is one of my 15-20 articles a day across sites.

Well, Effie - if nothing else - this one certainly got a load of comments! And not all bad lol....all I can say is once again I enjoy your other articles, and you might as well keep going with these because they bring you tons of views.

I want to apologize too to Effie for some snarky comments I may have left on other KG posts. It's easy to forget the Effies out there in innernetsland are real people who have feelings too. I'm sorry. I'm still going to make fun of KG for acting like she reinvented the wheel every time she breathes, but I'll try to keep it in my head.

Effie sorry to hear about your aunt. My guru said that we all fear death but death is just part of life. We should prepare every day for our death. This makes it easier to live in the moment and relish it. Most people are stuck in the past or stress about the future. Don't be afraid to express yourself through your writing. Its okay to have a different opinion. We are all here on earth to learn about ourselves and to grow as human beings from each other.

you know effie i have got to apologize to you i have been recently banned from gather i think i posted negatative things about you which i do regret this is an alternate email im using. your right we should not be attacking you you stated it correctly that we should not be hating on you. i think i got out of hand cause im frustrated with people like that. my name is brenda and im a single mother my husband died years ago so i have been raising my kids myself there are alot of struggles i went from being on welfare to owing my own business. if people were to help me i would not be arrogant to them it just gets me and this is why its frustrating cause your a mother cause you want to be one you do not get praise your not treated like you are a star your just a mom kate is not a star shes a normal person who gave birth just like the rest of us what makes her special and the rest of us moms not special you write about her every day things she does but i do the same thing i dont get any praise or stories written about me. being a mom is only special to our kids they love us they appreciate us if your going to put kate in the headlines for being a mom what about the rest of the good moms out there dont we deserve something if not neither does she. again i am sorry for being rude under my other name that wasnt right and you do have feelings and im sure you are a very good writer but maybe you can focus more on the people who really do deserve to be focused on please accept this apology

I absolutely accept your apology. I completely understand how frustrating it is to see KG praised for something as simple as feeding her kids breakfast. If she wasn't famous and people weren't reading my articles, I wouldn't write. You are probably a great mom and I in no means want to take that away from you. I'm not saying Kate is the best mom. My mom is actually the best mom!

question for you no disrespect but what ever happened to freedom of speech whether it be good or bad. you take that chance effie every time you write an article. it may be a good article to some and bad to others. you cant just say im only going to accept good comments. you have to develop a thick skin. alot of people dont like kate including me. in her show she started out good her kids were cute her and jon looked good together and as with some people it all got to her head she let fame take over. you could see the transformation. she treated people bad she was arrogant to others. i wouldnt have a problem with her if she was down to earth showing how she was struggling to raise her kids now that would have been a good show but then when she started prancing around like she was better then everybody else it makes people mad. she had a good thing and she blew it for fame. we have a right just as you do to express our opinion whether good or bad. there are alot of mothers out there effie that you could write about that are really struggling to be good parents they are the unknowns. i dont know if your a good writer or not i think to be a good writer you need to show your not like the hundreds of other writers that follow like sheep it would be refreshin for you to stop reporting the everyday life of kate and go off the grid and have the courage to report on real mothers who are really struggling to raise their kids that are selfless and would give up their lives for their kids. kate is not that she is not suffering she is not selfless she is not true to herself she spends too much money on herself while other mothers cant do that. prove effie that you are a good writer and use yr imagination hope this doesnt offend you

Not offended at all. Look, I don't mind that people don't like KG or don't like what I write about her. That's fine. Even saying the stories are pointless and stupid is fine. It is when people take it further and say that I'm a "terrible writer" or swear at me/make comments about me personally. Just bc I write about KG doesn't mean I'm a bad person or that I haven't had my own struggles with life just like the rest of you.

I am allowed to have my own opinions and fortunate enough to be able to share them in a forum like this. No one likes to be attacked for having an opinion no matter if it's right or wrong. Disagree with me all day long—I'm cool with that. Just don't come at me and personally attack me bc you disagree with my subject matter.

I hope I've been able to do just that, Effie. I may slam what Kate does because honestly I don't approve. And for those who commented, asking if I "knew" the family - I do not - I know what I read. And what I read is about 98 percent against her and 2 percent for her. I also research - when I read your articles and see a comment by another - such as one time when someone said Kate was trying to get the state of Pa. to continue paying for a home health nurse for the babies after they turned one - they stated she said it was the state's responsibility to provide for her kids - I looked it up. Found the legal documents online. It was so incredulous to me that someone would do that I needed to know if it were true (it was). When I read comments about the small amount of food she feeds her children, I check out what I can to see if that is true.
And all those eggs! Her kids are going to have cholesterol problems!

I remember early on, when you started writing about Kate, and I made a few comments negatively regarding Kate (not you) and you told me you liked and admired Kate in spite of everything, and I replied back, "That's okay. I like Obama". That's how I see it now. Not everyone likes and admires the same people - which is what makes the world go 'round. So, I will continue to poke holes in Kate, but I will refrain from slamming you in the process.

I agree with you nicholas. There are so many great mothers out there that are making huge sacrifices for their families and are suffering hardships wether it be health or financial. I don't hate Kate but I don't consider her to be a good mother. I really feel for the Gosselin children because Kate appears to be extremely self absorbed.

I don't "hate" Kate either - I just don't agree with her and don't see her as a role model for any mother. For her to even call all who disagree with her "haters" is kind of low.

The whole haters thing is ridiculous. Calling people "haters" for disagreeing with you is simply immature.
I hate child slavery and sex trafficking. I hate religious intolerance. You think I am going to waste emotion hating Kate Gosselin? Just because I disagree with her behavior doesn't even come close to hating her.
I share my thoughts because I have always felt she has deep-rooted psychological problems and
I simply wish she would get some therapy for her Narcissitic Personality Disorder, before it's too late for the kids.
P.S. I am glad to hear the Effie thinks her Mom is the best. Her Mom must be very proud. :-)
