Kim Kardashian has been criticized by plenty of celebrities, from Daniel Craig to Snoop Dogg to the stars of Teen Mom, and now she's gained one more hater - Mad Men star Jon Hamm is the latest celeb to partake in a little Kardashian bashing. So what's his beef with the reality show star?
It seems that he's irritated with Kim and her ilk for the same reason that they irk so many other people. According to Contact Music, here's what he recently said about Kim: "We're at a place where the idea of being 'elite' is somehow considered a negative. Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f**king idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly. And incuriousness has become cool... It's celebrated. It doesn't make sense to me." Hmmm...maybe he should have replaced Paris Hilton's name with that of a different star since she's not too relevant these days (perhaps he could have plugged in Rush Limbaugh's name - at least he recently managed to temporarily get a little attention again).
Maybe Jon Hamm brought up Paris' name because he's used to living in the past. It hasn't been fifty years since people cared about Paris, but it almost seems like it.
Since the heiress' fame has been a bit fleeting, maybe Jon shouldn't worry so much about Kim being such a big star right now - attention spans are getting shorter and shorter, so it will only be a matter of time before someone even more annoying becomes the next big thing.
It's not surprising that actors and actresses speak out against the Kardashians every now and then - it's got to be frustrating to work hard at your craft only to see a talentless sex tape star on what is really just a poorly scripted sitcom gain just as much fame and fortune. Or maybe Jon was talking about Kim because he knew that it would get him a little publicity - he is promoting the new season of Mad Men, after all (guess he didn't think Christina Hendricks getting hacked got enough attention).
Now all Kim Kardashian has to do is make this a full-fledged feud by attacking Jon Hamm for starring on a show that promotes infidelity, smoking, and drinking alcohol all day long - do you think she'll dare to do it?
