Jessica Simpson's recent nude cover of Elle magazine appears to be garnering complaints. Simpson, whose pregnant pose reminds of the 1991 Vanity Fair cover featuring Demi Moore, is now being taken to task!
Clearly, society hasn't come very far since 1991 if the April cover featuring a very pregnant Jessica Simpson offends so many people.
Apparently the fine folks in Tucson, Arizona are so miffed at Jessica's nudity (she is covering her breast with one hand and has her belly in the other) that they are giving the issue the porn treatment.
Management in at least one Safeway grocery store has covered the Elle magazine cover with cardboard or flipped the issue around in the rack. Talk about censorship! Talk about treating Elle like it was an issue of Playboy or Penthouse!
Clearly all it took to get the magazine all but banned from the store was to get a couple of complaints from customers. That's too bad that people find a pregnant woman somehow inappropriate.
So, was the image of Jessica Simpson offensive? Should the Safeway store have gone out-of-the-way to cover the magazine to appease a few people who were "offended" by it? Talk about an interesting debate!
