The Wanted are going to continue their TV takeover in America by appearing on The Voice.
The guys claim not to be competing with fellow British boy band One Direction, but it's hard not to pit the groups against one another since they've both been attempting to win over American fans at the same time. Harry Styles and the rest of 1D will appear on iCarly and SNL today, while Max George and his mates recently rocked the American Idol stage.
It might seem like 1D is currently the bigger pop sensation in the States, but their supposed rivals are also proving to be very popular. So maybe Harry Styles and his band mates started sweating a little today when The Wanted's Twitter page posted a big announcement — the group will be performing on The Voice!
It certainly makes sense for NBC to snag the band for an appearance since they really wowed the crowd on American Idol. Max George really worked his mojo during their performance, even snagging a kiss from a rather smitten-looking Jennifer Lopez (watch out, Casper Smart!). So maybe Christina Aguilera begged producers to get the group after seeing that—she probably also wouldn't mind sharing a smooch with the hottie, too.
The Voice kind of one-upped American Idol by getting Max and the guys now—the guys are going to perform their new single "Chasing the Sun" this time around.
So One Direction better watch out—this boy band battle is starting to rival the great American Idol vs. The Voice war. You can check out 1D on SNL tonight to compare their performance to The Wanted's on AI, and be sure to also check out Max and his mates on The Voice on April 17.
