Jennifer Lawrence may have gotten instant fame with her role as Katniess Everdeen in The Hunger Games, but with fame comes a price. She is now learning that being so famous and being in the public eye has its price, as she has recently been attacked by PETA. She is just the latest celebrity to be bashed by the organization, as Kim Kardashian was recently flour-bombed for wearing fur when she pleased. And as Kim announced her love for fur last week, Lawrence also has a thing or two to say about PETA.
Before Lawrence starred in The Hunger Games, she had a role in Winter's Bone, which required her to skin a squirrel. In her recent movie as Katniss, she does have to kill rabbits and squirrels to survive, but nothing is more dramatic than actually skinning a squirrel. And according to her interview with Rolling Stone, she actually had to physically skin the squirrel. There was nothing fake about the scene. "I should say it wasn't real, for PETA," she shares. "But screw PETA."
Given that PETA has been so controversial lately, especially with their random attack on celebrities, no wonder Jennifer Lawrence is letting them have a piece of her mind. It seems that they aren't letting people do that they want. It isn't so much about education anymore, as it is about bringing people down by attacking them. And in response to Lawrence's statement, PETA pretty much attacked Lawrence from being too young to understand what the organization stands for. A spokesperson also hinted that she is cold-hearted because she doesn't care about the squirrel.
It seems to be a battle between celebrities and PETA at this point.
