The Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame has inducted their new class of iconic legends. Guns n' Roses was inducted alongside the Beastie Boys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. There was a notable absence as GNR lead singer, Axl Rose, declined to accept the honor and skipped the ceremony.
Earlier this week, Rose sent a letter to the Hall, saying he declined the invitation and said, "I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf."
At the ceremony, Axl Rose was barely mentioned and when it was, the mention was met by boos from the audience. Sure, he doesn't get along with his former bandmates, but isn't getting into the Hall of Fame a night to put ego aside and accept the honor gracefully? Rose certainly got some publicity for the snub. Is it a coincidence he is currently on tour with his new band?
It sounds cheesy, but think of the fans! GNR wouldn't have had much of a career or success without them.
