Ryan Seacrest has responded to the death of his friend, Dick Clark. The American Idol host took to his Twitter account after learning that Clark suffered a massive heart attack and died today, and he shared his condolences with his followers.
"I am deeply
saddened by the loss of my dear friend, Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life," Ryan tweeted, adding, "My thoughts and prayers are with his family." While Seacrest may never be as great as Clark (will anyone?), he is considered the modern-day Dick Clark, and it's clear that Ryan looked up to him and will forever think of him as a legend.
Many people were waiting to hear what Ryan Seacrest would say about Dick Clark's untimely death. His comments were tasteful and heart-felt, and you can just tell that he was upset by the news. He is, after all, Clark's successor, and has been the man spending New Year's Eve with millions of people for a couple of years now. He had big shoes to fill, and while he may never actually fill them, he is clearly honored to have known such a great man.
"For now, Dick Clark, so long."
