Fred Armisen of Saturday Night Live fame dished recently about a possible shakeup in the future of SNL. Are some of the main players leaving? Is he among them? What's going on at Saturday Night Live?
According to a report from the Huffington Post, rumors have run rampant recently about major cast members like Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg, and Jason Sudeikis possibly leaving SNL at the end of the season. Armisen says he'd be happy for them if they do decide to leave.
"I'd be happy for them because they're doing what they want to do," he says. "They're both smart and intuitive and talented, so we'll always, always be together."
Can you imagine Saturday Night Live without Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, and Andy Samberg? Yes, that would leave Fred Armisen, who is a seasoned and very funny cast member. But would things be even remotely the same?
Fred Armisen didn't happen to mention the rather abrupt departure of SNL cast member Paul Brittain. No one really knows what happened there. Then there was the addition of cast member Kate McKinnon. Is something big going on in the Saturday Night Live world that the media hasn't yet been informed of? What's up with Lorne Michaels these days?
"I would feel sad—I love them, they're my family," Armisen goes on to say about Wiig, Sudeikis and Samberg. But it doesn't seem like even he had the scoop in his recent Hollywood Reporter interview.
What do you suppose is happening in the SNL world? Is a big shakeup about to take place? Where do you think that will leave the show without these big names to boost ratings?
