Robert Pattinson Vs. Ian Somerhalder: Which Hot Vampire Should Play Christian Grey?

From the very beginning, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were mentioned as possible leads in the movie version of the S & M-themed 'mommy porn' novel, Fifty Shades of Grey. After speculation that they would be banned from playing the lead roles in the film version of a Twilight fan fiction novel, their names are once again being bandied about. While neither Pattinson nor Stewart has evinced any interest the film, another famous actor has been mentioned as a possibility for the titular role of Christian Grey. Interestingly, that actor is also most famous for his portrayal of a vampire. His name? Ian Somerhalder.

In a recent poll, Hollywood Life asked its readers to vote on which hot vampire would be the better choice to play a controlling, sadistic, misogynistic, billionaire obsessed with a repressed, virginal ninny. Needless to say both Pattinson and Somerhalder had their outspoken supporters.

"I think Ian is the prefect fit," gushed one Team Somerhalder member. "He looks great on camera and his facial expressions are priceless. I would definitely pay to see him."

"50 Shades of Gray would be a very erotic movie,' enthused another. "which Ian would have no problem with because he is the absolute definition of HOT & SEXY."

Of course, the cheerleaders for Team Pattinson were equally enthusiastic.

"Robert will be perfect for the part," raved one, "he is the only man sexy enough to be CTG."

Interestingly enough, some RPattz fans were more analytical than hysterically lovestruck.

"Since Fifty Shades of Grey was inspired by Twilight," reasoned one Twihard, "it's only fitting that the stars that made the Twilight saga famous should star in this film!"

"Rob and Kristen are perfect for the role," opined another Robsten fan, "and I can't imagine any other actors starring in Fifty shades."

So which pale, fanged heart-throb was voted the best choice to play Christian Grey? It was an incredibly close race, but Robert Pattinson beat out Ian Somerhalder by 50.83 percent to 49.17 percent.
