When Kim Kardashian announced her divorce from Kris Humphries, several people thought her image would be damaged beyond repair. Yet somehow Kimmy K has managed to hang in there to become an even bigger celebrity by dating a bigger star: Kanye West. Kim can already be seen and heard everywhere. Now, thanks to the première date for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she'll be back in America's households.
Could it all be a plot to extend Kardashian's 15 minutes of fame and to ingrain her into American society? Quite possibly. Though many small time celebrities have tried and failed, Kimmy K may be the first to succeed. Some spectators think the brunette beauty has used her personal life, looks, products and status in society to become a cultural phenomenon.
Take for example Kardashian's (fake) marriage to Kris Humphries; this was convenient at the time because it helped to boost ratings but it quickly fell apart. The subsequent divorce has garnered enough media attention to keep Kardashian relevant while Keeping Up with the Kardashians was off air. Now, with its season 6 premiere fast approaching, the reality star times a new, more entertaining and interesting relationship with Kanye West to play out for her fans. Unfortunately, West dating Kardashian could backfire. Instead of gaining great publicity, West's credibility as a serious musician could be hampered. Still, in the end, it could all be worth it if his fans chose to stick by him.
Is Kim Kardashian a mastermind trying to ingrain herself in American culture? As scary as that thought is, some believe it to be the case. Even if it is, how can you blame her or any celebrity for wanting to be a part of American culture? That's where the money and fame is. Amazingly, Kardashian has managed to smile her way to reality queen status. Paris Hilton may have started the trend but that blonde's 15 minutes of fame have stopped ticking long ago. Thank goodness Hilton comes from money because she is generally forgotten by the media. Kardashian, on the other hand is still riding the gravy train.
