Now that Zac Efron has debuted in his first serious acting role in The Lucky One, he's beginning to feel all grown up. Zac may be thankful for Disney launching him into stardom, but he's trying to shed the teen star image and push the tunes of High School Musical from his mind.
Although Efron's fan base grew out of the Disney spotlight and many of his fans may always think of him as the character Troy Bolton, he is anxious to put the past behind him. "I got to a point that if I heard one more High School Musical song, I would have probably jumped off something very tall," he said. Was that a not-so-subtle diss on his roots?
According to Zac Efron, it isn't; he still keeps in touch with former co-stars Cordon Bleu and Ashley Tisdale, but he's ready for bigger and better things. "Right now I'm focusing on finding great scripts and working with directors who can show me the way," he notes. "But I hope my fans will grow up with me and will continue to watch my movies." Is Efron getting too big for his britches or is he merely developing as an actor?
