There's no denying that Kate Middleton has managed to overcome Britain's class system; however, Kate's newfound fame has also reinforced it. So, while the past year has been amazing for Kate, it has helped to cement social divides for Great Britain.
During the time Middleton was a mere commoner dating Prince William, UK's media really tore into her for being beneath royalty. Now that she's no longer William's girlfriend but his wife, the media is singing another tune. In fact, they are kissing her royal commoner tush.
According to Canberra Times, "The irony is that in the year since the 'wedding of the century', Kate has managed to surmount Britain's class system while reinforcing it... Kate wins easy points for buying clothes from chain stores and living without a butler. Kate is a rarity today: an appealing face frequently seen but hardly heard. This makes it easy for people to imprint their ideas upon her."
Kate Middleton's grace and pose has won out during this first year but that doesn't mean it will continue forever. Hopefully, it will. What do you think?
