Octomom Nadya Suleman starting out with a porn career is actually giving her a clean slate in more ways than one. Early this week Suleman said she would do porn as long as she wasn't touching anyone else's "flesh." She signed on with an online site to do a self-pleasure video set to be released this summer. Would earnings she make from this video go towards paying off her nearly million dollar debts? The single mom's assets are calculated to be $50,000 and by filing Chapter 7, earning will go towards her children and not bill collectors, according to Carmen Eiker, an attorney at McCurley Orsinger McCurley Nelson & Downing.
Eiker says of Suleman's decision to file Chapter 7:
"In invoking the protection of a bankruptcy filing, debtors are given the opportunity to start over with a clean slate, so that just may be the best decision she could make for her children."
The attorney doesn't necessarily endorse Suleman doing porn as a means of making money, but she said whatever she chooses will be funds in starting over with a new life. Of course it helps if she gets financial advice and debtor counseling to prevent a bad situation repeating itself.
As for the effects on her children doing porn, when the content is released online, it will never go away. Eiker says online material is used in family court cases all the time for celebrities as well as regular people. Suleman's children are very young right now, but they will be aware of it later on.
"Should she decide to, ahem, follow this path, she should be mindful of the fact that her children might quickly become cognizant of it," Eiker said. "And that would certainly become a concern."
Octomom has been overwhelmed being a single mom of 14 kids and no one denies any parent would have struggles with so much responsibility. The problem is Suleman made some dumb choices about where to spend her funds. Paying $520 for hair services while being on $2,000 a month in welfare wasn't smart. Hopefully she'll learn from her past mistakes and use her clean slate as a platform to change her ways.

Also future earnings are considered in a bankruptcy. The court's concern is to get past bills paid. Filing bankruptcy won't protect a financial windfall. If it's determined she has the means, or it's expected she will have the means, to pay back some of her bills, then she will be required to do so. This means that expected future earnings are considered. This porn money isn't hers free and clear. The court will consider it. Filing does not mean that whatever you get the day after filing and onward is yours. If you inherit a million and have $100k in debts, do you really think the court will discharge your debts when you have the means to pay them instead?
Also you need to verify the amount she's receiving. Nadya is getting $2k a month in food stamps, but she has admitted, on video, to receiving between $4k and $5k a month in total aid each month.
