Robert Pattinson fans will be happy to know that two brand new Cosmopolis video clips have just surfaced on RPattz fan sites. And there's something in them for everyone. As the young multi-millionaire Eric Packer, Rob goes from aloof, arrogant sophisticate in the first teaser to desperate victim resorting to violence in the second. As you can see in the clips below, he's quite good at both.
In the second clip, which should actually be the first, Rob is immaculate and seemingly untouchable as the über rich Manhattanite giving orders to his chauffeur. Unfazed by the fact that the usually unpleasant New York City traffic will be rendered hellish by the president's visit, Eric twice repeats his intention to get a hair cut. Everything about him—his expensive elegant attire, clipped terse speech patterns, and omnipresent sunglasses—suggests a man whose wealth and privilege have always allowed him to live in a world of his own, removed from the quotidian reality of lesser beings. What could be more important than his haircut? Certainly not the president's visit. Nor his chauffeur's trepidation. Nor anything else.
All that has changed by the second scene. Eric Packer's gorgeous white limo is now dirty, and defiled and defaced by spray-painted graffiti. Eric has also has changed for the worse. His suit jacket and tie are long gone, as are his expensive sunglasses. His shirt tails hang uneven outside his pants. He too, seems defiled and even worse, defeated. The GQ model of the fist clip has been replaced by a man who looks like he's literally had one hell of a day. Throughout their conversation in the first clip, Packer doesn't even deign to look at his driver. In the second clip, he not only shakes the second driver's hand, he embraces the man—not warmly but wearily, almost desperately as if he needs his support. After the driver leaves, Packer is left alone to face his fate.
You can watch Robert Pattinson's transformation on the clips below.
Enjoy. Sort of.
