Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have decided that their marriage is their number one priority. To the couple, that means that they are placing their marriage ahead of everything—including their reality show.
An important aspect of making their marriage work is making certain that Lamar has the time to refocus his energy on his basketball career. Whether viewers like it or not, that means putting Khloe and Lamar on the backburner.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Khloe Kardashian said, "I think what makes a marriage work is honesty, loyalty and prioritizing. And we just wanted to prioritize a little. Life is short."
Khloe feels that taking a pause from their reality show will help take the pressure off of their relationship and off of Lamar so he can better focus on his career.
"We just want a little pause," Khloe said. "Now there's less pressure on us."
It's good to know that Khloe and Lamar have their heads on their shoulders and realize that being in the public eye is not the way to go if Lamar truly wants to be in the NBA. It can be difficult enough for a "regular" person to maintain focus, but when a person's personal life is also being put out there for the world to see and criticize, that can be a recipe for disaster.
"It was stressful," said Khloé. "With the NBA lockout [last summer], then the short season and all eyes on Lamar because of the attention that surrounds our family, it almost felt like there was no right way he could have [handled things]."
Khloe Kardashian added, "I'm very protective of Lamar. I hold our relationship sacred."
It certainly sounds like Khloe and Lamar Odom are the real deal and have each other's backs in any situation.
