Rumor has it that Jeopardy host, Alex Trebek, is retiring. Are the rumors true? The answer is "possibly". He's talking about retirement within two years. However, fans shouldn't get worried yet. The popular game show host hasn't made up his mind for certain. He's merely thinking about it. Nothing's set in stone.
"Yes, I'm thinking of retiring," Trebek admits. "But I'm torn because I enjoy doing the show so much." That's probably not half as much as viewers like watching having him there. It's the longest running game show in TV history and as popular now as it was in its early beginnings.
Trebek admits he's held on this long just to reach that magical 30-year mark. "...That has a nice ring to it," he says.
While Trebek has clearly done more than his fair share in keeping the show alive, he's reaching an age where he might want more time for himself and his family. So fans would undoubtedly forgive him if he does decide to retire.
Still, one can't help but wonder what might happen to the Jeopardy if Alex Trebek left. Having someone else fill his shoes seems unthinkable. There's no one out there with the same natural charm, poised sophistication and quiet humor.
What do you think? Should Alex retire or keep on going? If he does retire, who do you think could take his place? Sound off below.
