Jennifer Lawrence's star power is now far superior to that of other young actresses. That is a fact and not a statement. Jennifer was the reason Hunger Games' sequel Catching Fire had to change directors. Even though director Gary Ross did an amazing job with his adaptation of Hunger Games, a scheduling conflict with Jennifer caused him to bow out of directing Catching Fire.
Lawrence was already scheduled to begin filming X-Men: First Class' sequel in January. The 21-year-old actress wouldn't be able to start filming Catching Fire until August. However, Ross had other directing duties and was unable to commit to the August filming date. Thus, Lionsgate had to search for another director to fill Ross' shoes. Their search finally concluded with Water for Elephants director Francis Lawrence (no relation).
However, Ross fans shouldn't fret too much. Due to Francis' long history of proven blockbusters, there's more than a high chance that Catching Fire will be directed well. Sure, Francis has a long list of things he must do but he also has the talent and experience to do them. Plus, having Jennifer Lawrence reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen almost guarantees the sequel will be as good as the Hunger Games.
