Beyonce turned up the glam factor to the nth degree when she left her and husband Jay Z's new little one, Blue Ivy Carter, at home to attend the 2012 Met Ball at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night. And what a red carpet appearance she made! The annual gala always brings out a crush of the hottest stars, celebrities and designers, who all sizzle in sophisticated, sexy and sometimes downright strange creations. As for Bey, she walked the line--one that she knows all too well--between sultry and classic, showing off her enviable post-baby body in a head-turning (and see-through!) gown.
She definitely knows how to attract attention and Beyonce, 30, did just that at the ball. Her Givenchy haute couture confection is already finding itself at the top of some of the best-dressed lists for the fashionable evening--as it should. The entertainer was working her Sasha Fierce side in an extravagant, intricate and daring gown, which featured strategically placed, sparkling black beading on sheer fabric. The form-fitting, hourglass silhouette eventually cascaded into an impossibly long train, complete with black and sapphire hued feather detail. Perhaps her baby, Blue, inspired that one dash of color on the gown!
And while this Givenchy work of art was sheer, Bey kept the peek-a-boo moments all in good taste by wearing a nude bodysuit underneath. No Rihanna raciness here! She did reveal a touch of her toned backside and derrière, though it stayed completely fashionable and far away from vulgar territory.
The new mom has recently been touting a rather DIY approach to beauty, opting to wear minimal makeup and to even trim her own hair, but she definitely cast that au naturel trend to the curb for the Met Ball. That said, the "Countdown" singer did keep her beauty look simple and chic with glowing makeup and a coral lip paired with sleek locks parted and pulled back into a ponytail.
