Nina Dobrev wore an amazing garment to a recent gala, but when it came to getting undressed she had to take drastic measures.
Here's what happened: The Vampire Diaries star attended the Met Ball in a Donna Karan Atelier gown that was made of gold. OK, so it wasn't 14 carat, but it was vintage. And it was heavy metal, a hard look to carry off not only because of its exotic effect but also because of how much this kind of material can weigh when used all over a dramatic gown (see Nina Dobrev in the dress here).
Anyway, when the actress was getting ready to attend the fancy party, she had to literally be stitched into her frock for the perfect fit. It was a daring trick, but one that worked nevertheless.
And then another trick was in order: A way to get out of this molded-to-the-body fashion statement so that Nina could use the facilities. Dobrev said that she had been warned that when the time came when she had to go (so to speak) then she should get in touch with Karan's team. These experts had a sewing kit that would allow them to cut her out of the gown and then sew her back into it once she was done using the ladies' room.
Talk about a fashion emergency.
Meanwhile, this is without a doubt a weird way to get your garment off but even more surprising is that Nina Dobrev was doing an encore of this particular act since she got undressed in this odd manner when she wore another Donna Karan gown to the Emmys in 2011.
That said, this style of turning into and out of being a fashionista is getting to be regular fare for this particular style monger, but is it worth it? Apparently so since The Vampire Diaries star has knowingly gone for this drastic situation twice in less than a year.
But what about you? Would you do the same thing and go through the same process for the sake of fashion? Please weigh in.
