Although it's old news that Roseanne Barr is seeking the Green Party's presidential nomination, her chances either greatly improved or lessened by her attempt to team up with Willie Nelson. If the duo (provided they are a duo) can gain the party's endorsement remains to be seen, but it's guaranteed to be an interesting campaign ride.
Roseanne had a rather un-presidential method of asking Willie to be her running mate, but it's hard to imagine the comedienne doing anything in a traditional manner. She made her wishes known on Twitter, "My Vice President will be announced at the debate in San Francisco this Saturday. I want Willie Nelson as Vice President."
At that point, poor Willie didn't have any political aspirations, and he initially turned down the offer via the same social networking site. Today, however, the country crooner changed his mind. He tweeted, "I would be happy to run w u After thinking about it awhile it kept sounding better Are u still interested? Love, Willie."
Just hours later, however, Willie Nelson changed his mind again, saying he just wasn't ready to get off of the sidelines. Roseanne Barr isn't content to just accept his last response and is ready to try and talk him into it by phone. "I am waiting to speak with Willie Nelson—sent him my cell phone number & want to speak with him. I told every1 he accepted & I still want him," she wrote to keep her Twitter followers abreast of the situation.
In recent years, presidential campaigns may have been reduced to three-ring circuses, but this one takes the cake.
