Creditors can start calling once again. Octomom Nadya Suleman's bankruptcy was recently vacated by a judge.
No, it's not a case of discrimination against one of the most hated women in America. So Suleman's fans can relax. Actually, the fault lies with Nadya herself.
Although she did apply for Chapter 7 under the U.S. bankruptcy laws, she failed to file all the required documents in a timely manner. Because she didn't ask for an extension to complete them as set out within the law, it was well within the judge's right to dismiss the case.
So what does that mean for the beleaguered mother? It's not as bad as one might think. She can re-file the paperwork; hopefully completely the second time around.
Unfortunately, in the mean time, that means her creditors can come after the money that's owed to them. Of course, Suleman doesn't have it, so it's an exercise in futility. However, there's no doubt they'll enjoy making her life miserable for a while. That, in turn, will make those who don't like the Octomom very happy.
It's assumed Suleman used an attorney to file the paperwork, so he bears some responsibility for the snafu as well. No doubt his client isn't happy about that little mistake.
Here's hoping Nadya can get everything together and re-file quickly. After all, no matter what anyone thinks of her, she's entitled to the same rights as any other American citizen. For her children's sakes, she deserves to get on with her life.
