Breaking news reports from rumor mills websites like Hollywood Life say actress and singer Jennifer Lopez is quitting American Idol. Claiming to have inside information, she will simply be too busy with her own career to be a celebrity judge anymore. Will the FOX network fight to keep her?
Last season, JLo was rumored to have earned a whopping $12 million plus perks for appearing on the reality television competition show. While many people felt that she would not be the greatest judge, she proved she is an effective mentor.
Bringing her heart to the table regularly but willing to offer competitors constructive criticism, she helped FOX not only keep the Idol camera's rolling but managed to help them keep network ratings high above competitors.
[Can you say, "Take that Simon Cowell and your silly X Factor!"]
But that does not mean the network execs will pine to have her back... or does it?
Hollywood insiders say the surprise success of the star might just have them begging her to stay on the program so expect them to try to throw even more money at her.
"Fox does not want to let her go. They love her," a source told Hollywood Life, indicating they plan to fight for her.
Noting that Jennifer Lopez just unseated Lady Gaga from the top spot on the Forbes list of the 100 most influential star celebs in Hollywood, whatever they do decide to offer her, it is likely they will seriously have to pay out.
What do you think they should offer her to stay on the show, or should FOX be willing to let JLo go? Sound off in the comments section below.
