It's no secret that Aishwarya Rai is a protective mother, but she might be taking it even further this week at Cannes. Initially daughter Aaradhya was to accompany her mother to the film festival but now it seems that Aishwarya might leave Aaradhya home in order to avoid any contact whatsoever with the media.
Aaradhya's well-being is pretty much the only thing on Aishwarya's mind these days. It's said she doesn't even care about what she wears at Cannes this year—she'd rather spend all her time with Beti B than have to pick out gowns.
Now, nothing against Aishwarya's mothering instincts. Aaradhya is her first child and she wants to spend as much time as possible with her. That's completely understandable. But if she's going to go all the way to France for a film festival then she should put at least a minimal amount of effort into it. Take half an hour to pick out some dresses. Let your bevy of beauticians work their magic, go stroll down the red carpet for L'Oreal, and then you can go back to the hotel and coo over Aaradhya. Or better yet, leave her at home with her nannies and father and doting grandparents, focus on the task at hand, and then come back to Mumbai.
Cannes isn't something you only put half your heart into. Do it right or don't do it at all. It's not as if Aishwarya has a film to publicize—she's only going to the festival as a representative for L'Oreal. A second one, that is, since Sonam Kapoor is also there representing the brand. Why go to all this trouble for something so trivial? Aishwarya has seemed disinterested in the event for some time now—perhaps it would be best if she just skipped it this year. Her fans would be disappointed but it'd be a lot less stressful for her. There's always next year!
