Mark Zuckerberg married long-time girlfriend Priscilla Chan in his own backyard Saturday, in front of about a hundred guests. True to his own nature, he immediately changed his status on Facebook to "married." And he wore what he wanted! But the wedding came off as a huge surprise—even to the guests, reports People.
It's been a busy week—what with the public launch of Facebook stock. Meanwhile, Priscilla graduated from medical school at UCSF, and the garden party was passed off as a surprise graduation celebration. Once guests were comfortable, the wedding took over, and the surprise was on everyone. Mark Zuckerberg had pulled off a huge social coup.
Priscilla wore a long silk dress, sleeveless and slim with a train. The upper bodice, with a modified boat neck, was all lace, matched by the long veil. The bride added white high-heeled sandals. Simple makeup, simple jewelry. Mark designed the wedding ring himself—a simple-but-sparkling ruby. Bling can be overdone, especially on a working physician's hand.
News flash! Mark Zuckerberg, the groom, did not wear his signature hoodie. He did wear an ordinary dark suit, with a narrow, loosened tie.
Perhaps no one had time to call a caterer, but the food was family style, from several of the couple's favorite restaurants. Sushi from Fuki Sushi, and other familiar stuff from Palo Alto Sol. Dessert showed off a deep vein of sentimentality. Mark and Priscilla ate Burdick's chocolate mice on their first date, and chocolate mice it was for the wedding. But wait! They began dating nine years ago at Harvard, three thousand miles away from the California wedding site. Delivery should not have been a problem.
Best Wishes, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan. May you have many, many friends.
