Prince William is opening up about one of the most important days in his life--his wedding to Kate Middleton. The royal reveals his pre-wedding day jitters were so bad, he was unable to sleep a wink the night before his big day. It wasn't just nerves that disturbed William; it was all the people who were so excited for him who decided to line the streets the night before the wedding of the century.
In a new interview, William explains the hundreds of well wishers may have meant well, but they cost him dearly. "They were singing and cheering all night long, so the excitement of that, the nervousness of me and everyone singing - I slept for about half an hour," Will reveals. Poor guy! It would have been hard enough with the standard nerves, add the fact the entire event would be watched by millions of people, and you have a recipe of insomnia already.
His sleepless night gave him plenty of time to think things through, and he says he was more than ready by the time his moment to say his vows finally came. Despite the formal occasion, Will says, "It was good fun. It was really good fun."
Fortunately, Prince William looked hale and hearty as he said his vows on that historic day. Of course, Kate Middleton was the one everybody was watching and admiring, but Will looked pretty handsome, too. Many may not have realized William was a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen that day. "The hardest thing was trying to walk down the stairs with my spurs on, sideways," Will jokes about his descent down the stairs at Clarence House. He shows off his sense of humor and says, "I had visions of myself and my brother Harry colliding and crashing down the stairs together."
It is not often the world gets to see the lighter side of the royal family. This interview will help the Queen, and her family continue their rise in popularity as she celebrates her Diamond Jubilee.
