'The Situation,' real name Mike Sorrentino, checked himself into rehab earlier this year, citing an addiction to prescription medication. He is now out of rehab, sober, and ready to hit the shore to film the sixth season of Jersey Shore.
In his first post-rehab interview, he talks to MTV News' Sway Sandusky about his experiences in rehab and his life after rehab.
"Your first day is detox," he tells MTV. "It's not a pleasurable experience at all. ... In the beginning, for sure, when I was [at the facility] in Utah, I'd wake up and just be extremely disappointed with myself. Like, 'I can't believe I got here. How did I get here?'"
Fans of Jersey Shore saw his erratic behavior regularly on the show. However, during filming of season 4, he seemed to take a turn for the worse. A fight with his co-star Ronnie even led to him slamming his own head into a concrete wall. His relationships with his co-stars were nearly completely destroyed by the end of season 5.
Ever since I've been out, I'm not gonna lie ... it's not easy," says Sorrentino. "But at the same time, where I'm at right now, I'm at a good place. But it took a little bit to get there. In the beginning? A lot of rainy days, so to speak. A lot of rainy days."
Fans will see 'The Situation' attempt to mend fences when season 6 returns to MTV later this year.
