Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's wedding is one of the most-anticipated celeb ceremonies of all time, but those looking forward to their nuptials will probably still have quite some time to wait since the couple hasn't set a date.
In fact, Brad is still hoping that gay marriage will be legalized before he and Angie walk down the aisle.
Brad said long ago that he wouldn't get married until gay and lesbian Americans can do the same. However, he and Angelina eventually decided to get engaged anyway because of pressure from their kids -- perhaps Brad saw putting a ring on it as a way to placate the impatient pack for a little while. When Brad finally broke down and proposed to Angelina, it probably upset a few gay and lesbian fans who were once happy with the way the actor stood up for their rights. However, even though they got engaged before gay marriage got legalized, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided that they might still wait for marriage equality before planning their wedding.
According to Contact Music, Brad said that he and Angie are "still hoping we figure out marriage equality in the States before that date" during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival. He was then asked if this statement was just meant to fool the paparazzi, and Brad replied by saying that he and Angelina really don't have a wedding date set yet.
It would be rather cruel for Brad to use gay marriage as a cover up, so surely he's telling the truth. And since there's no way of knowing when gay marriage will be legalized right now, it makes sense that he and Angelina haven't set a date.
Perhaps Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to wait on their wedding because of Barack Obama coming out in support of gay marriage. The idea of marriage equality is becoming more and more accepted in America, so hopefully it will be legal in Brad and Angie's lifetime.
So what do you think of their decision - are you happy that they're taking a stand, or do you think that they need to hurry up and get hitched?
