Depending on which tabloids you believe, Kate Middleton and her stepmother-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, either love each other or hate each other. In the "everything is sunshine and rainbows" camp, the Daily Mail runs stories about how Camilla is a mentor to Kate and gives her advice on everything from fashion and skincare to royal life. In the "throwdown in a steel cage" corner, The National Enquirer and the Globe claim that Camilla is jealous of the attention Kate gets, talks about her behind her back and has taunted her about Prince William's faithfulness. And now the Globe is at it again.
The Duchess of Cambridge is "furious" because Camilla has "cruelly attacked" Prince William's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, calling her "mentally ill and much worse," the Globe (via CelebDirtyLaundry.com) is reporting. The "bitter and disgruntled" Camilla allegedly let loose with the "evil lies" about Diana because she's upset that she will never be Queen. Camilla has also allegedly gone so far off the deep end lately that Prince Charles is "actively trying to have her committed to a mental asylum."
Assuming Camilla doesn't really need to be committed -- and considering this is a report in the Globe, she doesn't -- does anyone think that she still to this day makes disparaging comments about Diana? Sure, there's obviously a lot of bad history between Camilla and Diana. But it's been 15 years since Diana died, and Camilla and Charles have been married for seven. Everyone has had time to move past the events of the '80s and '90s. But if Camilla is still harboring a grudge toward Diana, she at least seems smart enough to realize she shouldn't be bitching about a much-beloved woman who is also the mother of her stepchildren (and the future King). So the Globe is clearly full of it!
What do you think? Is Kate Middleton "furious" about Camilla's "evil lies"? Has everyone gotten over what happened in the past? Sound off in the comments!
