Did you know that Phillip Phillips underwent a total of eight surgeries during his run to win American Idol? Now his dad is speaking out on the grueling process his talented son has endured.
According to a report from People.com, Phillips has chronically battled kidney problems since suffering an unusual build up of kidney stones. His dad maintains America has only seen about 50% of what his son is capable of doing musically, and than once his major surgery corrects the problem once and for all there's even more and better music to come.
"He's been doing [well], but it's just grueling hours and it's just amazing what he's done through the journey," says Phillip's dad, also named Phillip Phillips. "Eight operations since we started American Idol ... He's hitting 50 percent, but he's still up there swinging away."
Phillip will have surgery to reconstruct his kidneys some time next week, and his recovery process will likely allow him full reign during the American Idol Idols Live tour.
"The recovery's probably two to four weeks," his dad says. "He's healthy, he's good. His kidneys are good. I can't wait for America and the whole world to see him [after his surgery], because he's a big cut-up. He's going to have some fun."
Are you excited to think that Phillip Phillips will likely perform even better after his kidney surgery? Do you agree with his dad that America has only seen a portion of what its new American Idol can do?
