When it comes to Amber Portwood and her request to be sent to prison, it seems that everyone has an opinion. There are those who feel she did the right thing by accepting that the drug program in which she was enrolled wasn't enough, while others feel she was simply giving up on herself.
Among those giving their opinions was fellow Teen Mom, Jenelle Evans. She and Amber appeared on different installments of the show, but were often compared because they each found themselves in trouble a lot. However, while Jenelle seemed to get her life on the right track (slowly, but surely), Amber Portwood was not as lucky.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Jenelle said to Gary Shirley, "No offense but that was Amber's choice not wanting to get clean and she could of done it. I did."
When news of Amber's choice broke, Gary was taking it pretty hard. It was later revealed that he was actually at court with her and was seen outside of the courthouse before she made the fateful decision. It seems as though Jenelle Evans had good intentions, but many feel her words were a little harsh.
Amber Portwood tried several times to get clean, but realized that her problem was bigger than anything she could handle. Her decision may not have been that bad, especially since she had reportedly failed a drug test and would most likely be heading to prison anyway. If Amber had never tried at all and initially threw in the towel, then it could have been considered giving up completely.
There was a time when people slammed Jenelle Evans for her actions and decisions and, although she may have meant well, she should keep in mind that at one time, she had hit rock bottom, too. Despite that, it is great to see her finally doing well and hopefully she is able to stay clean and on the right track for good this time.
