One Direction's Zayn Malik crashed a Vespa this weekend during a video shoot. Is the "What Makes You Beautiful" musician okay? Fortunately Zayn is just fine, but the Vespa needed a bit of cosmetic artistry to cover up some scratches.
According to a report from Contact Music, One Direction was filming a promo segment and Zayn drove a Vespa as part of it. After all, how hard could it be to drive a Vespa?
It was apparently a bit more difficult than Zayn or anyone else had figured because he very quickly careened out of control and dumped the pretty red Vespa in a pile of gravel.
"I smashed up a Vespa... I'm making this sound more glamorous than it actually was. It just span out and went crazy, ran on about two metres and hit some gravel. And it was a limited edition, worth thousands. They had to put red nail polish on it to cover the scratches," Zayn Malik said in an interview following the accident.
One Direction band mate Liam Payne added his two cents' worth as well.
"He'd never driven a moped before and he had this brand new red one we were using in a video shoot - and crashed it," Liam said.
Sounds like someone should have given Zayn Malik a few lessons in driving a Vespa before putting him on one and simply letting him go. Fortunately no one was seriously hurt in this accident--and the Vespa? Well, that's something that could be replaced as need be.
Zayn, however, is one of a kind.
