Jessica Sanchez blaming judges for American Idol loss?

Kae Davis, why are you being a cyber bully to an innocent 16-year old girl less than HALF your age? Jessica Sanchez is only 16-years old and has the maturity to be a good sport with Phillip Phillip's win, PLUS even Kelly Ripa said on National TV, "In my heart you're the American Idol." Jessica Sanchez clearly sang 10x's better than either Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson did during their run on idol, yet middle of the road rednecks like you continue to dismiss this her as "karaoke singer" because she's not your white Carrie or Kelly Clarkson? You and others blindly claim Phillip Phillips to be an "original artist" when he himself sang a cover of Greg Holden's HOME for his single. Just admit you can't handle seeing a an American Idol of Mexican-Filipina descent and only want it to be another "White Guy with a Guitar."

Stupid Kae! Why are you so falsely accusing a 16 year old girl of something she did not say? It's a clear low blow from a stupid white female writer to do that, to me it spells RACISM. And to be honest with you, you have no writing skills whatsoever and you are very BORING!!! Jessica Sanchez will be famous, and it is narrow the minded people like you why it is very difficult to achieve a sense of PEACE in this world. Come on Kae, you should know better! There is no way, shape or form that Joe Cocker can out sing Whitney Houston, if he tried even on his best day... JS is only 16 years old, give her a break! WOW! You should put curlers in your hair and hang out in a Brooklyn Beauty Salon, because that's where gossip breathes and thrives. Just because a 16 year old with a golden voice is about to become way more successful than you will ever be, doesn't mean you should take the young ladies words and twist them so that you can get people to come here and read your column. I watched the interview, and never did that young lady "Blame" the judges for her loss. She was very gracious in her defeat and seems very content with where her career is heading. The girl is headed for super stardom, and the bigger she will get, the more jealousy it will breed. Don't be a hater, god put that voice in that young lady for a reason, and that's to make people happy, and so for that's what she has done a million times over. By the way, I didn't even bother to read your column, just the title was enough to get me her to write this.

@ John Mykel. Jessica Sanchez was chosen to sing the National Anthem at the PBS National Memorial Day Concert in DC over ALL of the American Idol finalists, including the winner. She still has MATURITY to NOT be a sore loser and praise Phillip Phillips for his artistic abilities. The main argument is this writer KAE DAVIS who is maliciously MANIPULATING the words of Jessica Sanchez. I advise Jessica Sanchez's lawyers to sue her for libel and maliciously spreading gossip. There's other worse female singers to prance upon and she's taking cheap shots at this innocent 16-year old girl who's done no harm to anyone.

When did she say she's blaming the judges? Are you serious? Why on earth would you twist her words cause I watched the show myself and never she said she blames the judges. This young lady is very humble. She actually said, Philip deserved it to win when everyone was saying he didn't deserve to win it. I read an article of her not getting a record deal and that she doesn't deserve one and I'm reading this???! Stop the hate! She's 16 for god sakes. I guess when one person is getting all the attention, others tries to bring him/her down. This girl will be famous cause of all this negativity. She's one strong talented, very humble young lady and you can't put her down.

I'm assuming that Philip Philips is not the tenor saxophone player whose style owed a lot to Lester Young.

I didn't realize that anyone cared about the outcome of "American Idol." Maybe I live in a bubble.

After hearing her do that duet with that other woman(whose names escapes me) , if I had any doubts who should of been the winner, that duet fixed it... I thought it was horrible... They both tried to out yell each other... Putting emotion into a song is one thing but I have heard these very same judges get onto others for yelling or screaming and boy, that was not a singing match it was a screaming match... That girl should of went home and not given a second chance... There were others much better than her who should of stayed...

That "other woman" was grammy winner Jennifer Holliday - who sang the song in Dream Girls on stage....she is also a Tony Award winner. She was also a featured vocalist on Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is". This queen of Broadway gospel is an acclaimed singer known worldwide.

Jessica has been in demand even before her run on Idol ended. She may not be as marketable on Billboard right now, but she's also only 16 years old, and possesses pipes like no one her age. I am not a huge Jessica fan, but this article is so wrong on many levels. She stated that she knew Phillip was going to win weeks ago. She also reviewed her videos and noticed that she was trying too hard to let the judges know she could sing. If the judges had so much influence, even after their save, would she have made it to number 2 if she wasn't good?
Last year they picked on Haley Reinhart constantly. Haley is also highly in demand, and her debut album has over a thousand ratings on itunes - all five stars. Idol has changed their recording contract stuff - no one but the winner is now guaranteed a contract.

I always though Joshua should have won. He had the voice, and the performance, of a winner. Phillip is fine - he is better than the former wgwg's on the show - outside of Scotty, that is. Yet - how well did David Cook, Kris Allen, and Lee Dewyze do? Kris' new album is selling poorly - so is David's. And Lee? Even number two Crystal sold better than him - with no promotion at all.
I think Joshua, Skylar, and Jessica will ultimately do better in the long run than Phillip.

I agree -- Joshua Ledet was really good... and I am sure he'll sell millions of R&B records in the years to come. I was surprised Colton went home as early as he did... he'd be a natural as a Christian Rocker and could do great with that demographic. I think Jessica Sanchez has a tremendous voice that will hopefully allow her to have a lifelong career as a performer. Far too many singers have a few hits and fizzle out because they don't have what it takes to be a career professional who is on stage more than in the studio. Since she is so young but seems to have missed the mark getting the youth vote, figuring out a way to get her a steady gig that can help put her through college while developing her stage presence would be a gift -- not a condemnation. Because she's able to sing tough pieces by Houston and Jackson with bravada, she could earn far more there simply because of the timing than anything. Later, she can make her own albums and eventually move to New York if she catches the acting bug and would be interested in being a headliner for a Broadway Musical. Far too few people think about positioning these kids in sustainable lifelong career positions. How many child stars have grown up to be famous without falling into the fame trap? Too many trade money for education and red carpet lifestyles for family. She seems like a nice girl who -- if guided in the right direction -- could truly have a career in show business that won't burn out over time. The tough part will be for her to move forward in such a way that she plans her steps carefully, does not allow her head to get too big, and thinks things through carefully. She can make real money respectably if she uses the talent God and her parents genetics gave her wisely. It would be sad, however, to see her turn out to be like Whitney (or Lindsay or Miley or Britney)... talented as a youngster but constantly losing themselves in the pursuit of the almighty dollar and Hollywood accolades at the expense of becoming a real somebody. Hollywood Life had a good point (noting she's not fully grasped reasons for her loss yet) and their readers voter poll showed most celeb news watchers agree that the young lady was not voted off because she could not sing. On the contrary -- she is a better singer than Phillip... he's simply more marketable as a pop star. She's actually so good, she's in another league... appealing to adults but really not on the mark as a role model for teens in the same way Scotty McCreery or even Lauren Alaina was appealing. Losing Idol won't be the end of her career, certainly... it's only one small stepping stone for what I hope will be looked back on as a humble beginning. And I agree -- Crystal Bowersox would have been a better Idol because she was more promotable, too. So, oddly enough, in many ways we agree. ;)
