While a Pusha T, Lil Wayne beef has been dominating hip hop lately, there may be a new beef for Weezy. The rap star and his protegé Nicki Minaj were among those scheduled for the Hot 97 Summer Jam 2012 concert this past weekend, neither took the stage. In fact, most of the YMCMB refused to perform after a particular Hot 97 DJ's comment, except for one member of the crew.
The reason for YMCMB not taking the stage was due to Weezy's orders. The man in charge ordered the rest of the crew to boycott after some negative remarks from DJ Peter Rosenberg towards Nicki Minaj, her fans, and her pop song "Starships."
However, one member of YMCMB still performed, and that was Tyga. He went on stage just as news of the boycott was spreading. MTV News got his comments, or non-comment, on it all, with Tyga saying:
"Man, I ain't got no comment on it ... but you know, the boss calls the shots, so."
It was said that Nicki Minaj's performance was going to be much more than just "Starships." MTV reports that she was going to surprise those in attendance with guest stars including Lauryn Hill, Nas, Cam'ron, and Lil Wayne as well. However, Weezy's simple tweet of "Young Money ain't doing summer jam" was enough for most of his crew to skip out on the idea. So why not Tyga?
Right now, Lil Wayne is also in a supposed hip hop beef with Pusha T, so this will add another to his list of "beefs," with Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97. As for Tyga, one has to wonder if he'll get a talking to, or he'll be OK and just didn't get the memo, or tweet.
