American Idol winner Phillip Phillips has undergone successful surgery to remove what is being called an 'enormous' kidney stone. The surgery took six and a half hours to complete.
According to a report from Celebuzz, Phillip's surgery took place on Wednesday at a Los Angeles hospital. He is said to be recovering well.
The new American Idol suffered through horrific pain during his entire and long road to winning the title. His doctors begged him to throw in the towel and have surgery weeks ago, but he refused and persevered to the end--and a victorious end at that.
Phillip Phillips will be ready and able to participate front and center on the American Idol live tour. That kicks off on July 6. The first stop on the tour is in Detroit.
Fans of Phillip Phillips, as well as his parents, family members and friends, are no doubt breathing a collective sigh of relief knowing his surgery was successful and he is on the road to recovery.
Now everyone is likely excited about hearing him sing again--and hopefully soon, too.
